The printing industry has undergone enormous changes since the invention of the Gutenberg Press in 1439 (illustrated). In fact, the basic design of the printing press didn't change that much at all until the early 1800's, but since then who could have dreamed just how far technology would take us (sometimes kicking and screaming!) to where we are today?

Haybrooke Associates are proud to be part of this sometimes difficult, yet always interesting industry that we call print. We have been making a difference, in one way or another, since 1984 - the date that our founder, John Roche, took his first job in the industry as a trainee printing estimator at Ripley Roll Label, based in Leicestershire. Things have moved on a lot since then!

Having always worked in print, John became a journeyman and over a period of several years occupied many positions, including costing clerk, estimator, MIS controller, commercial manager and financial director. Then, in 1999, he became the managing director of software development company Chapel Business Systems Ltd and in 2003 moved on to become the managing director of Ortega Software Ltd - a position he still occupies today.

In 2006, John established Haybrooke Associates Limited. Offering all manner of general consultancy to printers, including the calculation of hourly cost rates, the company has rapidly grown. Moreover, in the last few months a new product has emerged - PDQ - and has been warmly welcomed by the industry. As an instant estimating tool, it raises the bar for our competitors and we are very excited about the role it can play in the future of the industry. As far as our company is concerned, we're here to make a difference, so, whilst we're happy and proud to raise a glass to the past, our passion is for the future - for it is a future in which we plan to play a big part.
